GCSE Art’s final piece

Through this piece, I portray Shanghai as a multi-faceted city to alter the stereotypical image of the city.

Shanghai, commonly known as a financial and technological centre, resonates with me differently.

Growing up in Shanghai, I have always enjoyed visiting the Shanghai Temple of the Town God (Chenghung Miao) with my grandparents during the Chinese New Year. The temple gives a sensation that I was transported back to dynastical China as it contrasted greatly with the rest of Shanghai, especially with the skyscrapers in Lujiazhuo (the financial district).

Through this piece, I portray Shanghai as a multi-faceted city to alter the stereotypical image of the city. This is achieved by layering modern architecture on a vintage background and a focus on the lines and shapes on architectures.
